Headphones In The Office II

Maybe it is just me, but I ended up not liking my music to be on my speakers. I kept having to turn it down when calls came in because I would find myself listening to it instead of to the call. And I would get to a point where I was worried if it was something others might want to hear, much more that if they could hear it. So I went to Bluetooth ear buds. They work like a charm and I am not tied to the desk.

Actually, I wear headphones sometimes without music at all just to block out the smooth jazz coming from the desk next to me — from the only person that does not use headphones in the office. Of course it’s played annoyingly low/high enough just so I can hear it.

I feel like I work in a Macy’s sometimes. *sigh*

Luckily I am one of those people who does not NEED music in order to work. There is a good number that appear to need it or at least some level of background stimulation in order to cover up the silence, add some distraction or use it as a block/barrier. I am so glad we do not have office music here.

I don’t need music to work either, but like TRON, if my annoying co-workers are going to start playing their favorite style of music on their speakers (music which I happen to not enjoy at all), I’ll put my headphones on just to drown it out. Once, he was even whistling to the music as it was playing on his computer, that was the worst!!

My personal favorites are the ones who listen to their music on headphones, but then randomly start singing like no one can hear them!

We have a guy who just randomly sings Church Hymns… he’s not listening to music; he just randomly punches out a tune from time to time. Its both distracting and unsettling…

If I find myself being bothered by questions or having to get up to print a lot, the headphones are useless, so I play it at a low volume. It’s never bothered anyone yet.

“…I was told that I could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven, I told Bill that if Sandra is going to listen to her headphones while she’s filing then I should be able to listen to the radio while I’m collating so I don’t see why I should have to turn down the radio because I enjoy listening at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven…”

My co workers have a tendency of playing one boring aong on repeat the whole day…i get so annoyed that eventually i put my headphones

I’m astonished that any office allows music to be played out loud. Somebody else’s music choice is always annoying, even if you like the genre they chose, because you didn’t turn it on. It’s like perfume, cackle laughter, knuckle cracking, gum smacking, tapping, cigarette smoke, breakfast meat in the microwave. Believe me, it’s bothering somebody.
