And that’s why we send out final electronic plots to a print shop. They can deal with making sure everything prints correctly while I move on to other things.

Don’t plot…just FTP them. This alone has saved me several bottles of asprin per year.

In-house plotting is the bane of my existence. It’s worth every penny to have them sent out to a print shop. Of course, that is unless you need them right this instant, in which case this comic is spot on.

Isnt plotting sets what interns are for?

But all kidding aside, I dont miss plotters. My HP 450c is currently being used as a shelf in my office.

Asprin? We use beer. Fortunately there’s a KIP equipped print shop a block away!

this was me today….except the crisis was that we had no ink. ugh…

Rule of thumb from many places I’ve worked: More than about 8 plots should be sent out. You don’t have to calculate the cost of paper and ink.

Billable time x time messing with the plotter, collating, binding =

We only issue drawings – to both client and contractor as pdf files. If they want hard copies they can print them and pay for them.
