Q: What is Architexts?
A: Architexts is a web-based comic about working in an architectural firm. For more information, check out the ‘About’ page.
Q: If I am not an architectural professional, will I find it funny?
A: Many of the jokes are ones that you’d have to work in the field to get, but we think even those not in the profession might find our work amusing.
Q: When did the site launch?
A: Architexts launched publicly on January 25, 2010.
Q: If the site launched publicly on January 25, 2010, how come there are comics published before that date?
A: Prior to launch we wrote a lot of comics… a lot… and when we launched publicly we wanted there to be a bunch of comics on the site when our first visitors came.
Q: Who are the creators?
A: Architexts was created by two architectural professionals in their thirties living in the United States. You can read more about them by clicking here.
Q: Does the comic accurately portray what it is like to work in an architectural firm?
A: Many of the scripts are loosely based on the actual experiences of the creators or people they know. But, we are confident that not everyone who works in an architectural firm is as cynical as the main characters in Architexts.
Q: How often can I expect a new comic to be published?
A: It is safe to expect three comics every week. sometimes more. If you want to know when a new comic is published, you can subscribe for updates by clicking here.
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: We find it amusing.
Q: There are a lot of jokes based on stereotypes and some are a bit chauvinist. Why?
A: Let’s face it, the whole comic is based on stereotypes of architects and students of architecture. We use these jokes because they are funny, true or untrue. They are purely in jest and used as material to be applicable to the broadest base of our potential audience, so please don’t be offended.
Q: I have an idea for comic, can I send it to you?
A: We can’t stop you from sharing your idea if you want to. Just keep in mind that just because you send it to us doesn’t mean it will be used. By submitting to Architexts, you agree that any ideas you submit to Architexts will automatically become the property of Architexts, without compensation to you, and Architexts can use such ideas for any purpose and in any way.
Q: Are the characters based on real people?
A: Some characters are amalgamations of current and former coworkers of the creators. Others are just made up. Some characters contain traits of the creators.
Q: I want to advertise on your site, how do I go about this?
A: Architexts is happy to consider any and all potential advertisers. Send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Q: Why do some comics have explanations under them, and others don’t?
A: We decided in October 2010 to add explanations to comics. We’ve been gradually adding them to past comics, but probably won’t get to them all.
Q: I am the editor of a architectural publication and would love to syndicate or run Architexts in it. How do I do that?
A: Thanks for you interest. You can find out what you need to do by visiting our Syndication page.
