|Five years. Some people would have sought greener pastures by now, but not the employees of Franklin + Newbury Architects. The entire gang is still here, and even more frustrated than ever. Annoying clients. Unresponsive consultants. Meager paychecks. Lackluster projects. Or as we like to call it, another year of the sad reality that is working in an architecture firm.
This collection includes all of all the comics from the fifth year of Architexts and some bonus material.
Just because it is a new year, doesn’t mean it is going to be any different than the last. Actually, it is more of that same at Franklin + Newbury Architects. Not only does the CAD software crash, but the BIM software does, too. RFPs with ‘not to exceed’ project fees that barely cover the schematic design phase are the norm. Timesheets still need to be filled out, and contractors continue to go out of their way to create problems. These are the (mostly) true stories about working in an architectural firm. This collection includes all of all the comics from the fourth year of Architexts and some bonus material.
The struggle for workplace satisfaction continues as the employees of Franklin + Newbury Architects once again experience the journey towards licensure, the dread of construction administration, endless IT problems, project meetings, interns’ disenchantment, and the weekly battle to make it to the end of Friday. It’s another year of dealing with annoying engineers, unsavory measuring conditions, and a plotter that always breaks down at the worst times. ARCHITEXTS: VOLUME 3 includes all of the comics from the third year of Architexts and some bonus material.
The employees of Franklin + Newbury Architects are just as disenchanted with the profession as ever! Another year of the same old boring projects, pain-in-the-ass clients, unresponsive consultants, overbearing bosses, project managers who just don’t know how to manage, and of course, the occasional mishap with the plotter. This collection of all the comics from the second year also includes even more bonus material.
The staff of Franklin + Newbury Architects is made up of designers and drafters ranging from recent graduates who still have high expectations for their careers and the profession, to more experienced designers in their mid-thirties who would like to work in a better firm but feel stuck.ARCHITEXTS: VOLUME 1 is a collection of all the comics from the first year of Architexts, plus some never-before-seen content.
